The first of two matches was between the Club U19s and RGS 1s.
Joey would have loved the cricket between the Club and RGS, as there was some high quality cricket on display from both sides.
This year the school side has been particularly strong winning all but a couple of games against newer and traditionally stronger sides. So it was on this occasion as the school started very strongly with Alex Butterfield scoring 22 runs in the first over, including three 4s and one six!
Alex retired on 52 from 23 balls with eight 4s and two 6s. Well done to him!
The pace of scoring didn't slow too much with Sam Bell scoring 38 off 25 with six 4s and one 6, before being caught by T James off the bowling of T Hart.
Ben Ware scored 25 off 21 with three 4s before being bowled by George McLoughlin, who also tool the scalps of Jack Burke 5 (13), and Henry Russ 0 (1).
S Riddy was n.o. with 19 (20) with one 4. R Kumar was caught George McLoughlin off the bowling of Advaith Bali for 3 (4).
Tommy Bates was n.o. 12 (14) with one 4.
When the Club went into bat Advaith Bali retired not out on 53 (42) with three 4s and three 6s.
Max Thomas was 1 (5) caught by Alex Butterfield off the bowling of G Bell.
