Our Youth section supremo, Jim Harmer, celebrates his 70th birthday today.

Jim must be one the most influential members the club has had in its 168 year official history.

He joined the club in 1986 having returned from working in Japan where he had led the Yokohama Old Boys bowling attack. He became a key member of the Cavaliers and the "King of Swing" remains to this day their 2nd highest ever wicket taker with 335 victims.

Jim became a member of the club committee in 1992 and had 7 years as Fixture Secretary and 6 years as Club Chairman from 2004-2010.

It has however been his involvement in the Youth section that has gained him legendary status. He became Colts Manager in 2001 when we had about 100 lads in the section. As the Youth section expanded he took on the role of "Director of Youth Cricket" in 2007, introducing girls to the section in 2012. Today we have about 650 youngsters, including 150 girls, involved in cricket at the club.

A fantastic job Jim. The club and the youngsters of Reigate owe you a huge amount, as indeed does the whole of Reigate Priory Cricket Club. Have a great birthday.
