Whilst "Play cricket" is great for detailed stats for a good part of this century it only tells part of the story. RPCC has the 1st XI league stats going back to 1979 and the "All time Greats" of those who have scored 1000 runs, taken 100 wickets and scored centuries and taken 6 wickets in a match are updated every year, as are record partnerships..
In 2022 on the batting front we introduced two new members to the exclusive 1000 run club, Angus Dahl and Richard Stevens. Richard really introduced himself into the true all-rounder category as he also became just the 8th bowler to take over 200 wickets for the 1s in league cricket. Just 4 other players in history have taken 200 wickets and scored 1000 runs, Richard Stather and Ian Stamp from the 1980s and 90s and Sairaj Bahutule and Robin Underwood from 20 odd years ago.
No newcomers entered the 100 wicket bowling “greats” but Michael Monday will certainly be the next to enter the 200 club as his season’s haul of 52 wickets was easily the highest in the league and his 190 wickets have been taken at an average below 15.
Andy Delmont became just the 4th player to score 5000 1st XI league runs and Richie Oliver should reach that target next year. Both improved their career averages in 2022 and only 3 have better all time averages.
No record partnerships to celebrate but Alex Ross and Ed Fluck joined the ranks of centurions. Richie moved up level with Del with the 2nd highest number of centuries with 10. Still a way to go to catch Zubin on 17.
