Only 20 copies of the 208 page history of our Club remain. Yours for just £20.

The History of RPCC was published in 2018 and only 20 odd copies of this wonderful book remain. There are over 200 pictures and photos in the book which traces the Club's history from its formal foundation in 1852, but even the 100 years before that when cricket was being played in Reigate, to the present day. Well at least to 2018.

The book is not just the history of the Cricket Club but with the Club being so inextricably linked to Reigate you will also learn much about the history of Reigate. Below are just 12 examples of things you will learn.

  • Reigate cricketers were responsible for both the standardisation of the cricket bat width and the introduction of wides to the game.
  • How, when and where Reigate Priory came to be known as The Llamas.
  • That a Reigate cricketer was the only player to go on all of England's first three overseas tours from 1859 to 1863.
  • Who the Priory cricketer was who ended up "doing time" in New York's infamous Sing Sing prison for Grand Larceny.
  • Who was the only MP for Reigate who never became a member of RPCC.
  • What the Reigate Priory connection with Lawrence of Arabia is.
  • East Surrey Hospital owes its creation to a Reigate Priory President and VP.
  • Which RP player was actually there as a team member when the Ashes urn was first produced and presented to England's captain in Australia in 1883.
  • RP cricketers founded the Football club that played in the first ever FA Cup and has played at the same ground, Park Lane, continuously for the longest of any football club in the whole world.
  • Which Priory President owned a brewery and 91 pubs in and around Reigate.
  • Where the Reigate Racecourse was situated and that the Reigate Workhouse was opposite the current club entrance.
  • A Priory VP was Admiral of the fleet, credited with winning the Battle of Jutland in WW1 and bought the Reigate Priory, which turned into the school.
